Fall Family Fun in Maple Valley WA

Maple Valley WA Things to Do

Fall in Washington is spectacular, and Maple Valley offers exceptional views and brilliant fall foliage colors. As you are considering the different things to do with the family in and around Maple Valley, make sure you plan plenty of time to drink in the fall splendor. Rated by Family Circle magazine as one of the 10 best towns for families, Maple Valley offers plenty of places to enjoy nature and a little bit of fun with the kids.

Spend the Afternoon at Lake Wilderness Park

If you are looking for thins to do in Maple Valley, Lake Wilderness Park is the place to be. Not only can the kids run off their energy at the playgrounds, but you can also get some exercise on one of the walking paths, enjoy a game of tennis with a friend or put together a pickup baseball game on the baseball field. There are restrooms and barbecue grills to take care of your needs while you are there.

At the center of Lake Wilderness Park is the park's namesake, a beautiful and well-stocked lake. A boat launch allows you to take your boat, as long as it does not have a combustible engine, out on the water for an afternoon of fishing, and the city offers boat rentals in the summer. You can also fish from the dock or shore.

Explore the Lake Wilderness Arboretum

The Lake Wilderness Arboretum has 42 acres of trails and gardens celebrating the plans and flowers of Maple Valley. Families appreciate the many family-friendly events hosted at the Arboretum, and some enjoy sending their preschoolers to Little Sparrows Forest School, where they get the chance to play out in nature instead of in a traditional preschool classroom. In the fall, the arboretum's trees come to life in brilliant fall hues.

Take a Hike

Hiking is a common pastime in Maple Valley, and it's no wonder with the beautiful natural area surrounding the city. The Cedar River Trail runs through part of Maple Valley, connecting Lake Wilderness Park to Four Corners. The entire trail starts at Renton and travels 17 miles to Landsburg. Pick any portion of the trail and enjoy the beautiful views and lake access along the way. The fall colors will be exceptional at any point of the trip.

Watch a Race

Every weekend, PCP Motorsports Park in nearby Kent is a great place for fun. Watch 4 Stroke Racing or join up in your own fall series racing league, and bring the family to watch you race. This is a unique event that is one of the favorite things to do in the area.
